Our Wind Therm Base Layer system is an innovative revolution to the business of long underwear tops and bottoms.  We built them with a unique 2 Layer technical fabric system, with the main base material providing heavy weight warmth when the temperatures are cold and yet the same base material regulates the heat as the temperatures outside are rising, while also doing a superb job in wicking your sweat moisture away.  In other words you will be warm when you need to be warm and dry and comfortable when the tempertures outside are rising above the freezing mark.  So why not give up the "cold & clammy" that you have been wearing.  The second technical addition that we incorporated into the main base layer fabric, are seven thermal windblocking, breathable, DWR water resistant inserts, placed in strategic locations thoughout the tops and bottoms.  The sewn on inserts provide critical thermal windblocking protection for your upper chest core, biceps/triceps, thighs, hamstrings and buttock areas.  Imagine, always having a warmer and dryer butt?  The Womens sizes are designed and cut for women's bodies and they come to 2 blended sizes, Small/Medium and Medium/Large, with the color combination of Aloe Green w/Black Inserts.

The MENS base layer system is built the same as the womens, however the cut of the patterns and sizing is specifically for guys.  One thing that we haven't mentioned, is that when you are wearing our base layer tops & bottoms on at the same time, you can raise your hands to the skies and the cut length of the top is not going to pull up and out to let the wind and cold breezes blow in.(try that little test with the base layer tops that you currently own?)  The sizing of our base layers "give you more" fabric and material for the price, versus all of the competitive brands of long underwear that are sewn in China and else where.  The test batch base layers operated in temperatures from +50F to temperatures well below -50F and the users were dry and comfortable in the warmer temperatures and extra warm in the sub-zero outdoor tempertures and you will find them being worm again in the 2009 Iditarod, Spring 2009 Expeditions to the Himalaya's and currently there are some base layers working outdoor construction in Antarctica.  So when you standing at the starting line banners on Willow Lake on the first Sunday in March and getting ready to head inland, you're going to feel alot more confident knowing that what ever spectrum of temperatures that you're going to face in the next two weeks, you won't have to worry about warmth and comfort because you're wearing the best base layer system for the job, Technical Advantage Extreme Element Wind Therm.  Sizes Large & X-Large currently available.

XWick 3.4TRH Expediton Windblocking Thermal Wicking Rear Neck Flap Hat - Hardfaced Outer Shell Layer:

We've completed the XWick 3.4 TRH Expedition trifecta with the addition of our Rear Neck Flap Hat.  This hat is excellent and especially built for high exertion outdoor Winter activities, where there are periods of exertion and periods of rest during varying winds and temperatures, so the body is either generating excessive heat or is cooling off during the rest periods.  A Hat in this classification needs to thermally block the wind penetration, provide a medium heat or warmth feel when on the head and at the same time must provide superior moisture wicking to remove the sweat that builds up when mushing through the hard packed wind blown snow and this hat does it all.  It also has a built in rear neck flap to keep the elements and cold air off of the back of the neck when a neck gaiter is not being worn and it has a rear external strap system for locking in your goggle or headlamp straps.  The thermal regulation of the hat makes it wearable in temps from +32F (0C) to -60F (-51C).

The XWick 3.4TRH Expediton Series Rear Neck Flap Hats pack a combined thermal insulation value of R-3.4, which comes from the combination and function of each of the three layers together, which allows it to better regulate the heat, especially when your day is consisting of 50% or better of physical exertion as your mushing or running the dogs in training at at the big race.

The dynamics of this hat are very impressive.  The base hat with the flaps up is cut to just cover the tips of the ear, yet when you really demand warmth and protection from the wind, the flaps can be pulled down to seal out the elements around the ears, the chin and around the back of the neck.  The base hat is built with a 4 layer technical fabric system, the flaps are built with a 3 layer system and we've added the full, yes full baseball cap bill to help keep some of the elements out of your eyes.  The thermal regulation of the hat makes it wearable in temps from +20F (-7C) to -100F (-73C).

Kap Bridgman "Expedition" Arctic Thermal Hat:

The Kap Bridgman "Expedition" Arctic Thermal Hat is a step up from the base hat mentioned above, as it has been enhanced with the strapless head light user in mind.  Some headlight users don't mind the elastic securing straps going around their heads for hours at a time and others do.  For those who have a preference to just stick there headlamp onto the front of their hat and feed the battery pack cable though either side's cable securing straps and then go, this hat is for you.  This hat also has a rear left tabbed closure pocket sewn to it, so that you can also store a couple extra replacement bulbs for later use and again, you can secure the battery pack cable to either side and the opening of the straps is enhanced with a nylon loop tab to grab with your fingers.

As an added feature for extra security during tough and especially windy conditions, or when running through heavy trail brush, we have enhanced the straps around the chin with 1 inch wide velcro material, instead of 3/4" wide that we use on the normal Kap Bridgman Hat.

Extreme Element Arctic Thermal Mitts- Hardfaced Outer Shell Layer

We designed and cut the patterns for these mitts, especially for our base of Female Sled Dog Musher customers, however this mitt is not just limited to mushing and not just to females either. These mitts are built using 12 total layers (6 top/6 bottom) and still pack a second to no one thermal insulation value of R-9.3.  The outer shell layer is a technical fabric that has a hardfaced, yet fairly soft to the touch finish, which will further enhance abrasion resistance and we've incorporated "hook/loop "wing loc's" at the mitten ends so you can further seal out the elements.  The outer shell provides thermal windblocking, is DWR water repellent and has very good moisture vapor breathability.  The second layer in, provides 100% thermal windblocking protection, so no cold air penetrates the inner core.  These mittens also provide the highest level in the World of thermal moisture wicking and transfer and no one else, any where even comes close to this benchmark!  To learn more about these great mitts. The Technical Advantage Gear Glove Over Mitt Shells COMPLETELY seal shut at the top opening end when not in use, so that the snow and/or rain stays out.  They also come with multi-purpose heavy duty webbing straps at the top for gripping to open up the top seal, but more importantly one strap on each mitt has a durable plastic buckle so that they can be clipped together around your waist belt so that they are not dangling down at your knees.  The design and engineering of Glove Over Mitt Shells provides for a 3 Layer total technical fabric system. 3 on top and 3 on bottom, that is designed to provide thermal wind blocking protection, abrasion resistance, breathability, water repellency, inner layer moisture wicking, moderate additional warmth when pulled over the users gloves and a good level of bend flexibility and hand gripping when being worn.  The Glove Over Mitt units also provide an approximate thermal R-value of insulation of R-3.6 for both top and bottom sides of the shells.  They offer good dextarity and will stretch the period of warmth on your thicker insulated gloves and many "non-jumbo" sized mittens will slide right on into them.  These are great for those Sled Dog Mushers who don't want to settle  on just wearing a pair of our regular jumbe sized mitts, like those sold under our "Extreme Element Series" brand name.  Click here for more information>>>>>

The standard for status quo designed Glove Over Mitt shells that you've had a limited choice on in the past, basically goes like this:  The outer shell materials used have been made out of cordura, nylon, a nylon cordura blend, or perhaps a newer technical fabric that is made from some form of a nylon composite base material.  The immediate failure point on all of these Over Mitts from the start, is that the above mentioned materials "do not" provide any thermal insulation properties to the warmth calculation, or to the R-value of the complete unit.  The materials being used will provide some degree of wind blocking protection, however through the natural forces of convective and conductive heat loss, the cold will penetrate into the inner compartment area of the Over Mitt Shells.  Secondly, most Over Mitts only provide for at most a two layer total design system, the outer shell layer as mentioned and then perhaps a thin inner layer that is suppose to provide some amount of thermal warmth and moisture wicking.  The failure point here again, is that the thin inner layer cannot provide any measurable insulating contribution because it is always wet from all of the snow that enters the hand opening area when not in use that is never sealed shut and also because the outer shells basically offer little in the way of stopping the cold air temperatures from transfering through them right inside against your already cold fingers inside of your climbing gloves.  Yes there is some benefit to having a nylon composite outer shell material, which is that it will provide water repellency to the snow, rain and outdoor moisture elements, however that is only true if the fabric has been DWR water repellent treated, as most nylon fabric's do not naturally repell moisture with out the treatment. (if we get super technical for a moment, there are some very technically designed nylon based fabrics that limit and control the number of surface pores that are open per sq inch or sq cm, which allows for some natural water repellecy, however these same fabrics also limit the amount of moisture breathability through the surface membrane, therefore trapping the sweat vapors, etc on the inside instead of allowing them to pass through and escape, therefore they can further magnify the cooling effect inside of the Over Mitt compartment)  A fourth failure point on most if not all existing Over Mitts is that they do not offer a sensible option for keeping the snow and wet from entering into the hand opening area, when the Over Mitts are dangling down from your jacket or waist belt.  Most will offer a wrist area pull tight shock cord for when you're actually wearing them and some will even offer an additional pull tight shock cord and cord loc right at the end of the opening area, but how many times is it actually pulled all of the way closed and even then can it be pulled all of the way closed in order to keep the snow out?
